ESD GT Program utilizes the
Advanced Placement and Pre-Advanced Placement Courses (Pre-AP and AP) as their program option.
Placing Gifted and Talented students in pre-AP and AP classes puts them in rigorous, college level courses designed to promote acceleration.
• The AP Program is a nationally recognized set of rigorous classes, where students study advanced and in-depth material at an accelerated pace.
• Identified Gifted and Talented students in grades 9 - 12 are required to enroll in at least one pre-AP or AP course(s) offered.
• Core Pre-AP/AP teachers who teach Gifted and Talented students are AP trained and provide differentiated instruction for Gifted and Talented students according to their needs.
• Students take AP exams for the opportunity to earn college credit for a variety of courses including;
English Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, Science, Arts, and Foreign Languages.
-
Students may also earn weighted credit under conditions specified in the AP Rules.
