K/2 ENRICHMENT

Untitled-5.png

Each Friday, GT teachers visit the regular Kindergarten and First Grade classrooms to present enrichment strategies that develop process skills in critical thinking, creative thinking, problem-solving, scientific thinking, and logical reasoning.  All enrichment activities are planned with "higher-order" objectives.

These include affective development, such as self-understanding and ethical development, high-content complexity, and the development of academic
motivation.

On Mondays of each week, the GT teachers visit all Second Grade classrooms to present enrichment strategies that include Engineering is Elementary and Primary Educational Thinking Strategies (PETS).  These units enhance students' technological literacy and enable hands-on development of engineering and technology skills.

All K-2 enrichment is designed to help identify academically talented students, while also teaching all students higher-level thinking skills and introducing them to different ways of thinking.
